Practice: Child CPR
My scene is safe, my gloves are on, my rescue mask with a one-way valve is available. Child, are you okay? Can you hear me? There's no response. Child, are you okay? Can you hear me? Still no response. You, in the plaid shirt, go call 911 and come back. Bring an AED with you if you find one. Otherwise, I'm going to call 911 or activate a code. Now I'm going to assess for normal breathing and I'm going to check for a carotid pulse for no more than ten seconds. There is no normal breathing at all and I do not feel a pulse. I'm going straight into CPR. One, two, three, four, five and six, and seven and eight, nine and ten, eleven and twelve. Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty. One and two and three and four and five and six and seven and eight. Ten, eleven and twelve and thirteen and fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty. Twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty. One and two and three and four and five and six, seven and eight, ten, eleven, and twelve. Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty. I'm gonna continue this CPR until help arrives, EMS arrives, an AED arrives, or my patient begins responding and breathing normally.
